The April showers are back in full swing.
Looks like that sunny spell over the bank holiday was short-lived. The weather for the next couple of days is looking fairly grim.
Met Éireann say it'll be mainly grey and cloudy today with showery outbreaks of rain heading north over the country. That rain will be heavy and persistent in places this afternoon, with a risk of thunder. It'll be a tad drier and brighter this evening with highest temperatures of 17 degrees.
There'll be plenty of rain in store tonight too. It'll be a little drier in the north with clear spells but there'll be showers in the south and southeast later in the night, with another slight risk of thunder and lows of 4 degrees.
Here's how the rest of the week is shaping up according to Met Éireann:
Thursday
There'll be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on Thursday. Some of those showers will be heavy, prolonged and possibly thundery. It'll be a lot cooler too with highs of 15 degrees. Those showers will become isolated in the evening with some clear spells and lows of 4 degrees.
Friday
On Friday, expect outbreaks of rain at first followed by a spell of wet and windy weather and highs of 13 degrees. That wet and windy weather will continue on Friday night with rain turning heavy and a risk of very strong winds and lows hitting 3 degrees.
Weekend
At the moment, it looks like the heavy rain on Friday will clear but there'll still be a mix of scattered showers with sunny spells. It will turn cooler with highest temperatures of 9 degrees. A further spell of wet and windy weather is set to sweep across the country on Sunday with highs of 13 degrees.
