NPHET will meet today.
Minister Simon Coveney has said he expects most but not all Covid restrictions will be eased on Friday.
NPHET will meet this afternoon to advise Government on what to do in the face of rising Covid case numbers and hospitalisations. They're expected to give advice to Ministers on the planned re-opening due for Friday.
Senior Ministers will be asked for input, ahead of a meeting of the three coalition party leaders at around 8pm.
"I expect that there will be a removal of quite a number of restrictions on Friday", Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney says.
"But it may not be as comprehensive a removal of restrictions as previously planned."
Industry figures are lobbying heavily for reopening to go ahead, including Donal O'Keefe of the Licensed Vintners Association:
"100% of our customers are vaccinated. If our late bars and nightclubs are closed 585 days then surely, it is now time to move on".
NIAC is also meeting today to consider an expansion of the booster shot programme. Cabinet Ministers will decide tomorrow morning what restrictions can be eased on Friday.
