Today marks the National Day of Remembrance and Recognition for those who died of Covid-19.
Over 6,600 people have lost their lives to Covid-19 since March 2020.
Ceremonies around the country will pay tribute to all those who died from the Covid-19 pandemic.
While we'll also be thanking frontline workers who fought against it.
President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina will hold a special Remembrance Ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
The President will make an address at the event, 'To Honour And Hold in Memory', the Irish Examiner reports.
Mr Higgins will then ring the Peace Bell five times, and one minute’s silence will be observed.
As part of the ceremony, Mr Higgins and his wife will plant an oak tree in the Commemorative Garden as a memorial to all those who died during the pandemic.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin was due to attend an event at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin this afternoon but remains stranded in Washington DC, isolating after a positive PCR test.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar will be among those in attendance.
The Taoiseach has expressed his disappointment at his absence but said Ireland should take comfort in the firmness of our national response.
In a statement, the Taoiseach said healthcare workers, in particular, deserve special thanks on what is not just a day of remembrance, but of recognition.
He added that "they deserve and enjoy the entire nation’s deep gratitude and respect."
