Sunday is looking class.

If ever there was a day for a barbecue, Sunday is it! Met Éireann's latest forecast is in and it's looking like we're in for a peach of a weekend.

Let's cut to the chase and check out how things will unfold.

Friday (today): According to the national forecaster, it'll be mostly dry today with a fair amount of cloud and some sunny intervals. Highest temperatures will hover between 17 and 22 degrees with moderate northwest breezes.

Saturday: In a word Saturday will be decent. It'll be dry across the bulk of the country with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees with mostly light northerly breezes, warmest in southern counties.

Sunday: This is the one, the day when smell of bbq's and the hum of lawn mowers will fill the air. Sunday will be warm and dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees and mainly easterly breezes. Good times.

Monday: Monday isn't going to let the side down too badly either, it'll be warm with highest temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees. Much of the day will be dry. However through the evening showers or longer spells of rain will move up from the south.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Things will get back to average come Tuesday and Wednesday however.

''Tuesday will be a very showery day,''predicts Met Eireann.

''Some of the showers will be heavy with a risk of thunder and spot flooding. While Wednesday will bring a mix of sunshine and showers also with highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees.''

Thursday and beyond: So far the outlook is promising for late next week: ''Current indications suggest that Thursday and Friday next will be warm, but unsettled with rain or showers at times and temperatures in the low twenties,'' says the national forecaster.
