It may be a weekend for the indoors.
Blankets and roaring fires...
That may be the order for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend after Met Éireann released its latest forecast, which makes for some chilly reading.
Overnight temperatures of below zero feature prominently while sleet and icy patches will also make a most unwelcome appearance.

Here is what we're in for:
Friday will bring widespread rain for the south of the country, which may turn to sleet in higher ground and result in spot flooding in places. Mist and fog will arrive on Friday night, along with temperatures as low as zero degrees, resulting in frost and icy patches forming.
Saturday will bring less rain, but the temperatures at night are predicted to drop below freezing, while Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday will also ease off on the rain, but things are expected to get colder again, with both nights expected to bring temperatures that will dip below zero.
While Sunday and Monday will be just as cold. With dry conditions and sunshine expected with and afternoon highs of 7 to 11 degrees. The nights will be quite chilly, temperatures dipping below zero and widespread frosts, with the risk of icy patches.
If this is October just imagine what its going to be like when winter really gets going.
