Today The Guardian reports that bakers here would pay a tariff of €172 to import a tonne of flour in the event of a no-deal Brexit. The trade group representing millers says that could add between 8 and 15 cent to the price of a loaf of bread.
The two biggest flour mills on the island of Ireland are in the North and the only one in the Republic is far too small to keep up with demand.
The National Association of British and Irish Flour Millers says about 230,000 tonnes comes into Ireland from the UK every year and added that there's no easy alternative to British flour.
Sliced pan isn't popular in France and the flour there is only good for making baguettes.
