Met Éireann also predicts some frost and icy conditions this week. Here's the full forecast for the next few days:
Wednesday
There's heavy rain in south Munster and Leinster today. That will turn to sleet or snow in parts of Leinster this afternoon, especially on high ground. You can expect sunny spells and scattered showers elsewhere. However, rain and any sleet or snow in the east will clear later this evening and tonight. Overnight, there'll be clear spells and scattered wintry showers, a few possibly thundery. Lows of -1 degrees with frost and icy patches in many areas.
Thursday
Thursday will be cold with sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of those showers will be hail and some wintry on high ground. They'll be most frequent in the north and west during the morning, but will become more isolated through the afternoon and evening. Much of the southeast will stay dry with highs of 7 degrees during the day. It'll stay dry and clear in many areas on Thursday night. Showers will affect parts of the west and north though. These will become increasingly wintry overnight. Frost will develop and temperatures will drop to as low as -3 degrees.
Friday
Friday will be cold with a mix of bright spells and scattered wintry showers. Those will be heaviest and most frequent in the west and north. Highs of 6 degrees. Friday night will be very cold with frost and icy patches developing. Some fog patches will be in places but most areas will be dry. However, wintry showers will continue in the northwest overnight. Lows of -4 degrees forecast.
Weekend
Saturday and Sunday will continue very cold with sunny spells and scattered wintry showers. There'll be top temperatures of 6 degrees during the day. Widespread frost is expected on both nights with temperatures dropping to -4 degrees in places.
