Plans for a €25 million white-water rafting facility in Dublin have moved a step closer.

The proposed development is causing controversy over its cost and need.

Dublin City Council has invited expressions of interest to contractors to build the Georges Dock White Water Rafting Facility.

This is the first stage in the public procurement process. The proposal has been criticised by some for its timing, during the housing crisis.

DCC aims for stage one of this process to take around 4 months to complete. After that, a decision will be made on moving to stage two.
