It's set to be a mixed bag of weather this weekend.
Last night Storm Ellen took landfall, with Cork bearing the brunt of it.
There's currently a yellow rainfall warning in place for the entire country until 5am tomorrow. Met Éireann says there'll be heavy, squally downpours and thunderstorms nationwide with a risk of spot flooding in parts.
Meanwhile, a yellow wind warning comes into effect from 5pm for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Cork, Kerry and Waterford. Those counties can expect very strong south to southeast winds later today, veering southwesterly overnight with the potential for further impacts and a continued risk of coastal flooding.
Aside from the weather warnings in place, the outlook for the rest of this week and into the weekend looks to be a mixed bag. Here's the national picture according to Met Éireann:
Thursday
It'll be windy today with bright spells and heavy showers, merging to give longer spells of rain at times, with thunderstorms and some spot flooding. Highs of 19 degrees. It'll continue windy tonight with widespread showers and thunderstorms and lows of 12 degrees.
Friday
Friday will be another blustery day with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds. There will also be some bright or sunny spells but scattered showers too, some heavy in places. Maximum temperatures of 20 degrees. Friday night will be breezy with a mix of clear spells and scattered showers, with some longer spells of rain possible later the west and northwest. Lows of 11 degrees on Friday night.
Saturday
Quite cool and windy, with a mix of bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, merging to give longer spells of rain in Connacht and Ulster for a time in the morning and early afternoon. Highest temperatures of 20 degrees. On Saturday night, most areas will be dry, with clear spells, but there will be further scattered showers in Atlantic coastal areas. Lows of 11 degrees.
Sunday
It's predicted there'll be a few bright or sunny spells, but cloudy spells also, with scattered outbreaks of showery rain. Quite cool, with maximum temperatures of only 15 degrees. Then on Sunday night, a spell of persistent rain will extend from the Atlantic, with mostly moderate southerly winds.
