Three family members die following two-vehicle crash in Antrim

The victims have been named locally.

Three members of the same family have lost their lives, after they were in involved in a two-vehicle collision in Portglenone, Co. Antrim yesterday (Monday).

They have been named as husband and wife Paul and Verena Creelman, and Phil Hegarty, who was the brother of Verena.

The victims all hail from the Kilrea area of Derry.

The incident occurred between a silver Volkswagen Passat and a black Audi on the Lisnahunshin Road around 10.40am on Monday, PSNI say.

In a death notice, Dempsey Funeral Directors said that Paul and Verena were the beloved parents of Sean, Damien, Mikaela and Tomás and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are to be announced at a later date.

Inspector David Anderson has appealed for information and urged anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 591 27/07/20.
