New healthy eating guidelines for 1 to 4-year-olds have been published by the Department of Health.
The Department recommends a treat of just 1 square of chocolate, 3 crisps, half a plain biscuit, OR 3 jellies for kids aged one to four. That treat should be given no more than once a week, according to the health experts.
The Department of Health has today published new guidelines for young children. The recommendations also include a new food pyramid for young kids which emphasises the importance of smaller portion sizes.
Portion size is a big focus of the plan with the recommendation to feed children off a side plate, with suggested serving sizes of half a slice of bread, half a banana and 30g of meat.
