Gardaí are warning young people about a dangerous Tik Tok challenge called 'ghosting'.
The trend sees people lying on a road with a sheet placed over them in an attempt to stop oncoming traffic.
A young girl in the south of the country was injured while taking part in the challenge - she received injuries to her back, torso, and ankle and was admitted to hospital for a number of days.
Gardaí are reminding people of the importance of being seen on Irish roads.
Martin Guilfoyle, who is one of Ireland's most followed DJ's on Tik Tok, says the challenge was not dangerous when it first started.
''The trend kind of started off in September when you'd put a bed sheet over your head, and you'd get your photo taken in public places or quirky places, and then you post a montage of the pictures'', he said.
''But I think someone just decided it'd be funny or hilarious to do that lying down in the middle of the road, trying to stop a car and then get shots of the person getting out of the car, and then scaring them and running away''.
