The trend involves people speeding home while on the phone to a family member or loved one.
Road safety officials have raised concerns that a new TikTok trend will end in "carnage".
It involves drivers videoing themselves racing home while on their phone to a family member or loved one.
They tell them to pretend to be injured so the driver isn't punished by Gardai for speeding.
Some of the videos of relatives lying on kitchen floors have racked up thousands of likes on TikTok.
Noel Gibbons, Road Safety Officer with Mayo County Council, says the trend is dangerous.
''We're afraid it will become a trend, different age groups will participate in it just to get themselves a bit of social media fame'', he said.
''But it could be a the cost of their own life or the life o somebody else.
''So we encourage people not to like these videos on social media and not to share them''.
