''We do believe there is more that could be done''.
Testing for Covid-19 may be introduced at airports and ports in Ireland, after the Department of Transport told the Oireachtas coronavirus committee it's considering the measure.
It followed criticism of a lack of diagnostic checks at ports and airports at the moment.
Ken Spratt, from the department, says stricter measures may be brought for international passengers.
''It is the case that we do believe there is more that could be done, and we're giving consideration to potentially introducing departure point testing'', he said.
''Some testing is already in place in Dublin airport particularly where symptoms are presenting''.
