Two people with no travel history caught the variant.

In the UK, Covid testing teams are going door-to-door in parts of Surrey. It's after two people with no travel history caught the South Africa variant.

The so-called "surge testing" is being carried out in two areas of Woking.

BBC News report that mobile testing units are being dispatched to the affected neighbourhoods. Home testing kits will also be sent to households in Woking.

However, health experts in the county say there's "currently no evidence" the variant causes more severe illness, or is more resistant to existing vaccines.
