It's still summer, right?

Met Éireann is forecasting heavy rain with the potential for flash floods tonight, as Storm Francis makes landfall in Ireland.

An orange level warning come into effect at 9pm tonight for Mayo, Galway, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Wexford, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

Meanwhile the rest of the island of Ireland will be on a yellow alert for ''intense rainfall'' and possible flash flooding.

Met Eireann's Elizabeth Coleman says they have updated information about the storm.

''The UK Met office has just named Storm Francis which will track across the country later this evening, overnight tonight and through to tomorrow morning'', she said.

''The most intense of the rain is expected across southern coastal counties and also in Connacht and Ulster.''
