''I would be looking for sprinklers to be installed to help disperse large crowds gathering.''
There's a call for sprinklers to be installed at a popular tourist spot in Galway to prevent crowds gathering.
It's after hundreds of people crowded along the Spanish Arch over the weekend.
A lot a rubbush was left behind by visitors to the Claddagh area of the city.
Time to install sprinklers in the Spanish Arch. Not fair on the Council staff, local residents in the Claddagh or any proud Galwegian. pic.twitter.com/K9PGhRmxKD

Local Fine Gael Councillor Eddie Hoare says simple steps could be taken to deter people from congregating.
Speaking to the Irish Sun he said: ''I would be looking for sprinklers to be installed to help disperse large crowds gathering. It’s a very scenic location and residential area and what is being left there after these large gatherings is not what anyone wants to see.
''It’s an ongoing occurrence, not just in Covid times, but now it’s more prevalent. We have drinking bye-laws with regard to not being allowed to drink in public areas, but they aren’t being enforced. People are gathering and drinking, and the area is being left in an awful state.
''I think sprinklers would be the smart solution''.
