It happened last night.

A soccer player has been hospitalised in Cork after his team were attacked with weapons while training.

It happened at Richmond Football club's training ground in Garrandarragh at around 7:30 last night.

A row started after two men approached the players on the pitch and began pushing and shoving them.

Both men shortly left but returned with a machete and a knife, cars were then damaged and windscreens were smashed.

Gardaí say two men were arrested at the scene for public order offences, and investigations are ongoing.
