Shopping centres are being advised to turn off WiFi, remove public seating and limit parking spaces ahead of opening next week.
That's the advice from the National Standards Authority which has published a set of guidelines on how to limit the number of customers and operate safely.
Under the original roadmap, shopping centres were not supposed to reopen before 10th August. However, last week the Government announced a fast track scheme for some of the phases with shopping centres told they could open on 15th June, once measures were put in place to make centres safe and prevent people congregating in them.
The National Standards Authority has drawn up a set of guidelines for shopping centres. Its spokesperson is Paul Turner said:
"The shopping centres are following the public health advice which is for people to wear face coverings while they're going in to carry out their shopping".
The NSAI advises that WiFi is turned off and public seating is removed to deter people from congregating.
Parking spaces should be limited as well as access to children. Face masks will be recommended in shopping centres as well as special access times for essential workers and vulnerable groups.
One way systems should also be introduced.
