Google searches for 'shop-local-Ireland' have increased by 540 percent in the past week it has emerged, after the search engine released a study into people's recent trends.
Since the introduction of Level 5 restrictions there has been a surge in people searching to buy Irish products.
The use of the words “just buy Irish” peaked with an increase of a massive 3,495 percent in the last seven days.
While people searching for the term 'buy-irish-gifts' jumped by 200 percent.
Jeweller Hugh Statham in Nass Co Kildare says there have been challenges to this new way of doing business but it's been a success.
''We're doing a click and collect service,our clients are joining on Instagram and Facebook, then we gift wrap it and it's ready for them to collect. And they come to the door and we hand it out'', he said.
The words shop local increased in co Cork by 700 percent and by 470 in Dublin.
Businesses are being advised to create an online presence in the lead up to Christmas.
