A senior HSE doctor who recently criticised Covid-19 restrictions has resigned.

Dr. Martin Feeley was the Clinical Director of the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group.

Just days after describing Covid-19 as "much less severe" than the average flu, Dr. Martin Feeley has resigned this. He also said draconian restrictions are no longer justified, in the Irish Times at the weekend.

Dr Feeley went on to say people who are at low risk should be exposed to the virus so they can develop herd immunity.

The HSE then distanced itself and rejected the comments made by him. It said the position by Dr Feeley is not the position of the HSE.

The Hospital Group says it would like to thank him for his work as a Group Clinical Director for the last 5 years.
