A woman has died and three other people have been injured, including a 12-year-old boy, in a car crash in Roscommon.
Three different cars were involved in the collision, which happened on the N5 at Strokestown, between Scramogue Cross and Tarmonbarry, at 8 o'clock this morning.
A woman in her 50s, driving one car, was pronounced dead at the scene, with a post-mortem examination due to take place.
The people in the other two cars were also injured.
In the second car, a woman in her 40s has been taken to Tullamore Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
And, in the third car, a woman in her 40s and a 12-year-old boy have been taken to Ballinasloe Hospital, but gardai say there injuries are also not life-threatening.
The road is closed for a forensic examination, and local diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
