Calls for pubs not following the guidelines to be shutdown

Pubs not following the guidelines should be shut down, according to the Licensed Vintners Association.

Heath and Safety Authority inspectors will be travelling the country checking they are following the rules.

Today marks day three of the third phase of easing Covid-19 restrictions, with some reports that people are staying in pubs for longer than the 105 minutes allowed through the Failte Ireland guidelines.

There are calls for the policing of the rules to be increased, with publicans saying they aren’t sure who should be enforcing the guidelines.

The Government is recommending people who don’t feel comfortable in a business to leave.

The Vintners Federation of Ireland has admitted that a small number of pubs are not following the rules.
