Fáilte Ireland has published new guidelines for the reopening of restaurants and some pubs.

People attending restaurants and bars that serve food when they reopen on June 29th will be allowed to spend 1 hour and 45 minutes eating a meal - as opposed to the 90 minutes originally proposed.

Under new plans published by Fáilte Ireland  the premises will be required to collect the contact details for at least 1 person per-booking.

Fáilte Ireland says premises serving food can also reduce the two-metre physical-distance rule to one metre if necessary.

A further 15 minutes will be reserved for cleaning.

Paul Kelly, CEO of Fáilte Ireland said: “These guidelines are intended to provide clarity to businesses so that they can reopen safely on June 29.

“I would like to thank my team and officials from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport who have been working tirelessly on ensuring these guidelines are practical while adhering to public health advice.”

Fáilte Ireland said its guidelines are living documents which will evolve to reflect any new Government advice and changes to protocols as they emerge.

Earlier this week, measures for reopening leaked online, causing confusion for those who own businesses in the sector.

It had been reported that pubs looking to open on June 29 will have to serve a “substantial" meal costing at least €9.
