Gardaí are investigating the alleged assault.
An investigation has been launched after a 12-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a man at a Dublin playground.
The alleged incident happened on Monday evening at around 5:30pm when 12-year-old Ellie May was out playing with friends at Windy Arbour Playground near Dundrum.
She was messing around with stones and throwing pebbles down a slide before a man allegedly physically assaulted her.
Her mother Sarah Stephens says Ellie May might have been misbehaving but it does not entitle a grown man to hurt her child.
''He turned around and said have you got stones up there? He went forward then towards her, Ellie-May jumped down the fireman's hole she went to run, and he grabbed her by the hair backwards'', she said.
''Obviously she's on the ground at this stage and he just kept kicking and kicking and kicking''.
Sarah says gardaí are now involved and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Councilis providing CCTV footage to try and identify the man and added that her daughter is completely shaken after the attack:
''She put her hands up against her face, so her right side was no the ground, she was curled up in a ball.
''Her whole left arm is black and blue''.
Gardaí say they are investigating the alleged assault and no arrests have yet been made.
