The next stage of easing coronavirus restrictions kicks in.
The country will enter the next stage of coronavirus restrictions being eased on Monday.
Last night, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed the country will enter Phase 3 of re-opening the country. A more detailed list of what Phase 3 involves is up on the government's website but here it is in a nutshell:
From Monday, here's what will change:
- Almost all remaining businesses, amenities and workplaces can reopen
- The travel limit from your home will be scrapped
- Travel to offshore Irish islands can resume
- Gyms can reopen
- Restaurants and hotels can open again
- You can go to the hairdresser, barber or beauty salon
- Pubs that serve food can also open their doors again
- Driving tests will also be back from Monday, but initially just for trucks, buses and motorbikes.
- 50 people can meet indoors from next week
- 200 people can meet outdoors, so long as public health guidelines are observed
- Museums, galleries, theatres and cinemas can all reopen their doors
- Places of worship can exceed the 50 people limit if social distancing can still be observed
- Adult education facilities, crèches, pre-schools, summer camps and youth clubs can all resume operations
Here's what's NOT changing on Monday:
- We still have no reopening date for nightclubs
- Mass gatherings such as festivals and larger events won't be allowed just yet
- Anybody who can work from home is still advised to do so
