Normal People received four nominations in total.

Normal People star Paul Mescal has been nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the hit show.

Mescal is nominated for Outstanding performance by a lead actor in a limited series, alongside Jeremy Irons, Watchmen; Hugh Jackman, Bad Education; Jeremy Pope, Hollywood; Mark Ruffalo, I Know This Much Is True.

His nomination is just one of four in total for the show, which also included: Lenny Abrahamson for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Sally Rooney & Alice Birch for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series and Louise Kiely for Outstanding Casting for a Limited Series.

Other actors in the running for awards include Olivia Colman and Jodie Comer for their roles in The Crown and Killing Eve.

Both those shows are also nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category.

The winners are due to be revealed on the 21st of September.
