We're due a spell of good weather and Paddy's Day is when things are set to take a turn for the better.

Wednesday 17th March is set to be mostly sunny with highs of 17 degrees in parts.

Next weekend is also looking good as high pressure will bring mostly dry and settled conditions.

Here's the forecast for Paddy's Day onwards, according to Met Éireann:

Wednesday (St Patrick's Day)

There'll be frost and fog in the morning but that will clear to leave a dry and mostly sunny day. Some cloud may move in across west Connacht and north Ulster later in the day. Highs of 17 degrees with warmer temperatures in south Munster and south Leinster. Cloud is expected to spread southwards over Ireland during the night with a few patches of drizzle possible. Lows of 5 degrees.

Thursday

It'll be rather cloudy with some patches of drizzle and mist early on but that is predicted to clear away from most parts by the afternoon. Highs of 13 degrees in and it'll stay dry in most areas on Thursday night. Cloud will break in some areas allowing it to turn quite cold with lows of 2 degrees.

Friday

A generally dry day is forecast for Friday with a mix of cloud and sunshine. Current indications suggest the best of the sunshine will be across the east and south of the country. Top temperatures of 13 degrees. It'll be largely dry again overnight with some clear spells and lows of 2 degrees.

Weekend

Early indications suggest that high pressure will continue to dominate the weather over Ireland this weekend bringing mostly dry and settled weather conditions.
