A star of the film has revealed why there's no part 2.

For better or for worse, it seems most classic films are getting a sequel or a remake these days.

So what gives with Elf 2? Released back in 2003, it's definitely been long enough in Hollywood years to check in on Buddy the Elf and see how things ended up.

Well, sadly, star of the film James Caan (who played Buddy's father) has poured some cold water over the prospect of a sequel.

The 80-year-old actor has revealed that a part 2 was in the works, however there was tension on the set between Will Ferrell and director Jon Favreau, meaning it never made it off the ground.

James was chatting on Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan’s Bull & Fox and said: ‘We were gonna do it and I thought, “Oh my god, I finally got a franchise movie, I could make some money, let my kids do what the hell they want to do.”

‘The director and Will didn’t get along very well. So, Will wanted to do it, he didn’t want the director, and he had it in his contract, it was one of those things.’

Well this sucks...didn't they learn anything from Buddy?!
