The Health Products Regulatory Authority strongly states that there are no authorised medicines to cure or prevent Covid-19.
It says fake products being sold online could be extremely harmful and may contain dangerous substances.
It is working with Revenue and Gardai to stop illegal medicines coming into Ireland. The HPRA is urging people to report any ads they see on social media which sell products claiming to prevent or cure Covid-19.
Yesterday, a further 240 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus were announced, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland to 32,023.
