People from all over globe will be able to witness the magical event.

The traditional winter solstice sunrise at Newgrange will be livestreamed from the tomb’s chamber this year.

The 5,200 year old passage tomb from the Neolithic era, usually hosts guests in the chamber each winter solstice for a coveted view of the sunrise aligning with the roof box into the passage.

But due to the pandemic, the event will not go ahead in 2020.

Instead, the sunrise will be livestreamed on the morning of 21 December, with more details to be released in the coming weeks, reports The Journal.

The Office of Public Works confirmed the news in a statement yesterday evening, where a spokesperson wrote:

"The Office of Public Works’ annual Winter Solstice gathering at the Neolithic Passage Tomb of Newgrange on 21 December has been cancelled this year, due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

"The hugely significant Solstice Sunrise event is to be live-streamed from within the Chamber."

Keep an eye out for details on how you can watch in the coming weeks!
