Take note.
The cost of a Netflix subscription for a lot of users is about to rise in Ireland.
The Irish Times reports that the price for the basic offering, which allows for one screen to use the platform at a time and does not offer HD, will remain at €7.99.
However, the price of the standard subscription, which allows viewers to have two screens at once, will increase from its current price of €11.99 by €1, meaning the new price will be €12.99.
While premium subscribers, who can stream on four screens at once, will see their subscription fee go up from €15.99 to €17.99, an increase of €2.
“Our price change reflects the significant investments we’ve made in new TV shows and films, as well as improvements to our product. Our basic membership will remain at the same price ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy our content,” a spokeswoman for the company said.
She added that Britain and Ireland is Netflix’s second most important market for production globally with $1 billion (€820 million)being spent on content this year alone.
The streaming service is available in over 190 countries, and has over 195 million subscribers.
