''It's really sad actually''.

The fallout from Britain's move to undermine the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement continues to draw the attention of leading political figures in the US.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has once again criticised the British approach this evening.

''It's not up to them to think that they will be rewarded if they mess with the Good Friday accords'', she said.

Yesterday, Pelosi warned that there will be "absolutely no chance" of a US-UK trade agreement passing the US Congress if Brexit undermines the Good Friday Agreement.

She also issued a statement praising the Good Friday Agreement as the bedrock of peace in Northern Ireland and an inspiration for the whole world.

"Whatever form it takes, Brexit cannot be allowed to imperil the Good Friday Agreement, including the stability brought by the invisible and frictionless border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland.

"The UK must respect the Northern Ireland Protocol as signed with the EU to ensure the free flow of goods across the border," Nancy Pelosi said.

"If the UK violates that international treaty and Brexit undermines the Good Friday accord, there will be absolutely no chance of a US-UK trade agreement passing the Congress," she added.
