The family have reported a number of incidents over the past three years.

A family has been forced to leave their home after a mother was beaten with a baseball bat in Co Louth.

It is the latest attack on a family who live in College Manor in Dundalk, who have also had rocks and bananas thrown at their house.

According to The Journal, the family have reported a number of incidents to gardaí in the last three years.

Their teenage son has been repeatedly targeted by youths and some older men in the area who have intimidated, chased and assaulted him.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Kevin Meenan has been in contact with the family and he says they have moved out.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that gardaí are “investigating an assault that occurred at a property” at approximately 9pm last Friday. They said no arrests have been made to date, and investigations are “ongoing”.

Dr Lucy Michael from the Irish Network Against Racism says this is not an isolated incident:

''We've seen a large number of families right across the country driven out by missiles being thrown at the house, whether that's eggs of paint or rocks through the window''.

She added that violence has been reported against family members as young as babies, right through to older grandparents.
