An appeal for information has been issued after thieves stripped a lifeboat of its engine and GPS plotter in Cong, Co. Mayo.
Corrib Mask Search and Rescue took to social media to inform the public that their brand new 'Zodiac' life boat had been targeted and equipment upwards of €10,000 in value had been stolen.
A member of the organisation wrote: ''All the members of Corrib Mask Search and Rescue are devastated to report that our newly acquired Zodiac boat has been stripped of the Yamaha Engine and GPS Plotter, the value of this equipment is upwards of €10,000.
''If anyone was in the vicinity of Cong within the last 48 hours, have seen, heard, or if someone tried to sell any parts of a boat.

In the days following the initial post, the crew of the Corrib Mask Search and Rescue revealed that they'd been overwhelmed by the support they'd been receiving from the general public.
"The crew are all shocked and still trying to come to terms with what happened'', a spokesperson wrote on Facebook.
"The fact that people could carry out such a crime and not realize or care about the consequences it could have, is very hard to contemplate.
"We will do our upmost to get the boat back on the water as soon as possible and we will keep everyone posted when we get more information."
"Thank you for your continued support. Without you, our service is not possible."
