A Mayo woman has won the first-ever virtual version of Big Brother.

An exclusive Irish version of the mobile game ran for the past few weeks as a trial before the worldwide launch. Aoife Cheung survived a record four eviction votes before going on to claim the €5,000 prize.

She says it was like a full-time job at times:

"You log on in the morning and kind of do a Head of House competition. Whoever's head of house then nominates two people to go up for eviction" she explained.

"You just kind of chat, get to know everyone ... The more active you are, I think was the way of kind of winning it really".

Galway development studio, 9th Impact, teamed up with Endemol to produce the virtual game. It allows players to become virtual housemates and experience life as an actual Big Brother contestant.

Before being launched worldwide, the app was released in Ireland only on May 28th. The global version is set to launch later this year on both Apple and Android devices.
