There'll be no new series of Love Island UK until next summer

But it's not all bad news for fans.

Smash hit reality series Love Island will not return to our screens until summer of 2021 an ITV spokesperson has confirmed.

However when the show does return, it'll be for an extended an extended run to make up for lost time - a silver lining.

The spokesperson told RadioTimes.com: "Love Island UK will return bigger and better than ever with an extended run in summer 2021."

There are no details at present on how long the 'extended run' will go on for.

The news means there'll be no return of the Winter series of Love Island, which aired January last and saw Paige Turley and Finley Tapp come out victorious and split the £50,000 prize month.

There is some good news however if you can't wait so long for your fix of the show, ITV2 will be repeating Love Island: Australia season one for the next month.
