The accuracy of this...

When you're an Irish person living abroad with an Irish name, you find yourself constantly saying the same thing day after day... ''No actually it's pronounced (insert Irish name here)''.

Whether you're an ay-oo-fee (Aiofe) or a see-o-bahn (Siobahn) it's a daily occurrence that's equal parts amusing and frustrating.

Which is why an Irish woman named Fionnuala's recent tweet really struck a chord with Irish people both at home and all over the globe.

During a video call for work, Fionnuala spotted a google tab open on her colleagues screen which said, 'how do you pronounce Fionnuala'.

Quickly taking a snap of the screen, she shared it to Twitter writing: ‘When your colleague shares their screen and they still have this tab open. Irish name problems.’

The tweet has been liked more than  21 thousand times since it went up, with countless other Irish named individuals coming forward to tell their own stories.

A Fearghal said: ‘I have been called Fraggle, Frodo, Fuego, Fraga and even Virgil! I live in Spain so my name is not that well known. Damn you Fergal Sharkey for not being popular here.’

A Siobhán responded: ‘Try being a Siobhán living in Switzerland … I’m usually See-o-ban !!’

One Fionnuala even shared a photo of being called 'Firpo' in an email from her gym instructor.

Annoying though it sometimes may be, it's definitely an endless source of entertainment.
