The six-week hosepipe ban will remain in place until July 21st despite rainfall across the country.
Irish Water says of 900 water schemes, 37 are still in drought and 59 are at risk of drought.
Managing Director Niall Gleeson explained why the ban has to continue.
''We did see some reduction in non domestic demand but not enough to compensate for the big increase in domestic demand'', he said.
''Our concern is when businesses return, and next week we have hairdressers and pubs returning, they'll be quite heavy consumers of water.
''If the domestic demand stays high and the new businesses come back and start to consume water, we may have issues''.
