Google has abandoned plans to rent 200 square feet of office space in Dublin City Centre. The company was in talks to take on a new state-of-the-art building in the Grand Canal Dock area.
Google says they are still "committed to Ireland and continue to invest in our Irish Operations".
The tech giant released a statement confirming that it's decided, after much deliberation, not to proceed with leasing a new office block as planned. The seven-storey building in the docklands was to be the future workplace of 2,000 employees.
Its a cause for concern for local businesses, who's customers and clientele, are almost exclusively local office workers.
Meanwhile, estate agents admit the office-space market could be in better shape. However, they're hopeful demand will pick up as staff grow tired of working from home.
