''We know a good deal more about this disease internationally than we did in March.''

The Chief Medical Officer says any re-introduction of Covid-19 restrictions could be done on a county-by-county basis.

Health officials say there have been very few admissions to ICU over the last week and the number of new infections is falling.

Dr Tony Holohan says if there's a second wave, the re-introduction of measures could be geographically limited.

''We'll be paying close attention to this in the coming weeks, the way in which we did in back in March may not be the same the way we would do it again if we had a future resurgence of the disease'', he said.

''We know a good deal more about this disease internationally the advice we have available is much much greater than it was in Feburary and March''.
