A man has been killed after he was hit by a car in Co. Roscommon, on the N5 near Strokestown shortly after 5 o'clock this morning.
The victim, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital in Sligo with non life threatening injuries.
The scene remains closed for Garda forensic collision investigators and traffic diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses or those with dashcam footage to contact them at Castlerea Garda Station..
