Any excuse for more days off...
So the UK is getting an extra bank holiday in 2022.
They'll be getting a spicy four-day weekend in early June to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
But it got us thinking... what should Ireland get an extra long weekend for? There's always room for more bank holidays.
Here are our suggestions:
1. Robbie Brady Goal Day
The collective gasps across the country, Miggeldy dancing with pure elation, the roars across the stadium in Lille. We need a day off just to watch that spectacular day in Irish football all over again. But for now, let's relive it here:

2. Toy Show Friday
Sure we've normally checked out of work on this day anyway. Might as well give us the full day off to get the cosy jammies on, make the hot chocolates and watch as Ryan Tubridy and a load of adorable kids melt our hearts.
3. When Ireland said YES
No other explanation needed. <3
On 22 May 2015, Ireland took a historic step towards #equality and #inclusion when we became the first country to legalise same sex marriage by popular vote. Have a look at our video to find out more. ?️? @LGBT_ie #MarRefMemories #LGBTQ pic.twitter.com/XXbnyhUvMy

4. The Man Falling on the Ice Day
He brought a bit of light relief to the RTÉ News on that fateful day on January 8th 2010. The least he deserves is a bank holiday in his name.
5. Five days off to commemorate the lost Garth Brooks Croke Park gigs
Ok, I'll be honest. I'm just looking for a reason to take five days off instead of one here. But it was a pivotal moment in Irish history. Will Garth Brooks ever play Croke Park again? Will any gig happen ever again? The future is unknown.
6. Any sunny day
The Government should just be allowed to call an impromptu bank holiday weekend on that one day of the year that we get some cut of a heatwave. Nothing lifts the nation's mood than a warm day AND some time off.
7. Teresa Mannion in Galway
"DON'T MAKE UNNECCESARY JOURNEYS"
Surely we could all do with a Bank Holiday Monday to just remind ourselves of that alone?
8. When Mayo eventually win Sam
Ok hear me out. This long weekend will work for everyone involved. The Mayo fans get the day off to go absolutely buck wild with the excitement and the rest of the country can get it off so they don't have to listen to their Mayo co-workers for the day. Win-win!
