It's the highest number of returning nationals since before the financial crash.
New figures released by the Central Statistics Office show that more Irish Nationals returned to the country, rather than emigrated for the year up to April 2020.
According to the CSO 28,900 Irish nationals returned to the State, compared with 28,300 who left for abroad.

Overall, Ireland's population is estimated to have grown by 55,900 (1%) to April and now stands at 4.98 million.
Dublin accounted for 28.5 per cent of the population, 1.42 million.
4,333,000 (87.1%) of the total population are Irish nationals, while 644,400 (12.9%) are non Irish Nationals.
