244 people with Covid-19 are being treated in Irish hospitals today.

The number of cases has grown by 82% over the last week compared to the seven days previous.

244 people with Covid-19 are being treated in Irish hospitals today. That marks the highest figure since May.

The national 14-day incidence rate now shows that for every 100,000 people in Ireland, 206 are contracting the virus. The highest incidence rate by county is in Cavan which has 639 per 100,000 people.

NPHET is predicting that there will be between 1,800 and 2,500 cases reported daily with 400 people in hospital by the end of the month.

NPHET has also looked at data around traffic, debit card and ATM activity since level 3 restrictions came into effect and has concluded that overall the public has not changed its behaviour.

The public is being urged to take personal responsibility to suppress the virus and to encourage others to act responsibly.
