College students will still have to pay €3,000 fees, even if they won't be on campus for most of the week.
Minister for Education Norma Foley has said the bill will not be reduced despite the majority of class time potentially taking place online.
The Union of Students of Ireland has called this 'disappointing' and wants it reduced by €500.
DCU SU President Fearghal Lynch says students will be paying for amenities they can't use:
"I know between ourselves in DCU, I've been told that the on-campus experience [will be] about 30% of full capacity at any one time," he explained.
"So, therefore, the library, other facilities around the campus will not be able to be used as much as they previously were.
So students are very frustrated, as I can understand, at the lack of facilities this year".
