Two men have been arrested.
A man in his 30s is recovering in hospital after being beaten up by a burglar in Co Tipperary.
He was assaulted after chasing the suspects out of his home this morning.
At around 5:30am this morning, two men broke into a house at Westgate Court, Irishtown, Clonmel and stole a number of items. This awoke the homeowner, a man in his 30s, who chased one of the suspects down the road.
He was then assaulted and later taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí searched the local area and arrested a man in his 20s. Another man in his 30s was also arrested after he was caught trying to dump some of the stolen property into a nearby river.
