A manhunt was launched to find Martin Carpentier on July 8th.
The search for a man suspected of abducting a killing his two young daughters has been stood down, after Canadian police recovered his body, The Journal reports.
The discovery comes following a two-week search for Martin Carpentier, with the 44-year-old’s remains being found at around 7pm on Monday in the area of Saint-Apollinaire, Quebec.
Police made the discovery just a short distance from the forest in which the remains of his daughters, six-year-old Romy and 11-year-old Norah, were uncovered on July 11.
“According to initial findings, he took his own life,” the force said in a tweet.

A large scale manhunt was launched in order to locate Mr Carpentier, who is separated from the mother of his daughters, when he went missing on July 8.
Police say the motive behind their killing remains unclear.
Francois Legault, the premier of Quebec, has stated that he is ‘overwhelmed’ by the ‘national tragedy’.
