Two men and one woman are in custody.

Gardaí have arrested three people as part of an investigation into a disappearance and suspected murder of a couple who have been missing since 2015.

A woman (40s) and two men (50s and 60s) are being detained at garda Stations in counties Meath and Dublin.

The couple, William Maughan and Anastasija Varslavane, were first reported missing from Laytown, Co Meath in April 2015.

They had been together since 2014 and lived in a caravan in Gormanston, Co Meath and the following year they were planning on moving into Willie's family home in Tallaght.

On Tuesday April 14th 2015 at 2:30pm, Willie asked his Mum Helen to collect them in Gormanston.

Helen arrived half an hour later, but Willie and Ana never showed, and were reported missing that evening.

Gardai later upgraded the case to a murder investigation in September 2016.

The couples bodies have never been found, Gardai say searches are now being carried out at a location in Co. Meath.

They are appealing for anyone with any information relating to the investigation to contact them.
