Amber Heard has claimed her ex, Johnny Depp, threatened to kill her many times.

The actress is giving evidence at Depp's libel trial against The Sun newspaper, which labelled him a "wife beater" - something he denies.

In a witness statement Heard described an alleged attack in Australia in 2015, which she called a "three day hostage situation" when she was stuck in their house with no way to leave.

Heard said: "Over the course of those three days, there were extreme acts of psychological, physical, emotional and other forms of violence.

"It is the worst thing I have ever been through. I was left with an injured lip and nose and cuts on my arms

The 34 year-old is also alleging the Hollywood star subjected her to "extremely controlling and intimidating behaviour".

Heard claimed he shoved her against the fridge, threatening to "crush her neck", before choking and spitting at her, reports the Irish Mirror.

She alleges that Depp pinned her down on a ping pong table and grabbed her by the neck when she tried to escape.

Heard claims he told her: "You f**king do this to me every time; you f**king did this; you f**king make me do this."

She added: "I remember thinking he was going to kill me in that moment.

"He was screaming at me, over and over again, 'You ruined my life, I hate you, I'm going to f**king kill you and I'll f**k your corpse.'"
